This Thursday, in a special ceremony held at Hulhule' Island Hotel (HIH), the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) handed over scholarship certificates to its employees to complete their Hajj pilgrimage.
This is the first time the sponsorship is being granted after a brief intermission due to the Covid-19 pandemic since 2019. The sponsorship was awarded to five, long-serving employees who fulfilled requirements within the company.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Managing Director of MACL, Ibrahim Thoha noted that the company is constantly working towards providing employees with opportunities for growth and development. He noted that this sponsorship is also a celebration of great service to the company.
The company took to Twitter this Thursday and noted, "This year, we are sponsoring a Hajj pilgrimage trip for 5 MACL staff. CEO and Managing Director, Mahjoob Shujau, handed over the sponsorship letters at a special ceremony held at HIH. We wish them an enlightening journey".
MACL has been in discussions with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs regarding hajj quotas since last year and has been able to secure five positions from the quota allocated for Maldives. This year's Hajj is to take place from approximately 26 June 26 to 1 July.
